Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find some frequently asked questions about CareLit Complete.
We monthly update our publisher journals in the database. All articles contained in the respective journals are included in the database. Each article contains the following data: authors, title of the contribution, abstract, keywords (thesaurus), bibliographic information, and title preview. Each article is provided with a preview, PDF, and searchable full text. We editorially process all articles and add a brief summary of the key aspects.
Unlike a simple library catalog, we include numerous additional data that make your search easier:
Each article is stored as full text (original text). This way, you can find every contribution related to your question.
Each article is provided with a preview image - so you can see what to expect before reading.
Each article is editorially tagged with six keywords from the thesaurus - so you already know what it's about before reading.
For each article, we include the abstract - because the title alone does not always indicate what the article is about.
For scientific articles (peer-reviewed journals), we additionally evaluate the bibliography and provide you with valuable references to additional literature.
As of January 2026, we have indexed around 514,000 articles from 448 journals. The oldest entries date back to 1947. Currently, about 2,000 new articles are added each month. We have approximately 15 million pages in PDF and text format available for search and retrieval in the archive. This accounts for about 97% of all German-language publications since 1947.
An increasing number of publishers, including all renowned German-language publishers, offer you the option to download the corresponding article directly online as a PDF through CareLit. We offer various packages that unlock exactly the journals you need for your institution. Many articles are now only available through us. Our tip: Browse through journals from the 1970s!
CareLit is available as a web application for desktop, tablet, and smartphone. It can be used on any internet-enabled device. A printer is necessary for printing the downloaded articles. All PDFs can be edited and printed - without copy protection or similar. Login is done via username/password or IP address, IP range, or proxy server (e.g., EZ-Proxy) including library stanza.
A comprehensive online help is available in the system. This not only supports you in research but also in professional research strategies - so you can process your topic quickly and at any time.
